Sherrie's social links:
Sherrie Edgar is a multidisciplinary artist from the West Midlands creating digital films, installations, photography, and audio. With her practice, she explores loneliness, social politics of isolation, feminism, youth culture, and mixed heritage. Sherrie’s exploration of being multiracial (South Asian, European Dutch, Irish) has been a personal understanding of race relations and how this connects to loneliness.
Sherrie's micro short; 'Divide and Rule' film first previewed at the MAC, an investigation into lost identity in the UK. Other artworks include the 'Being Mixed' photography series and slow-motion capture film and audio showcasing people's experiences of being mixed race. "I experienced sociocultural benefits growing up in a multi-cultural family. The contribution of art and culture societies stimulate our desire to learn, be creative, and to meet people."
Sherrie is also a founding member of COVert Arts, supporting artists, and creative writers with confidence and exhibition opportunities, supported by the The Warwick Institute of Engagement. Her work encompasses many outlets, from street art for the 'Walking Forest' project, to exhibiting in regional galleries such as NAE in Nottingham, and ESP in Birmingham featuring work from her 'Pink!' series about feminism, and experimental sound and installation artwork based on youth culture.
Sherrie aims to develop her digital film practice, using techniques from theatre and screen, with story and poetic narrative. This springboards from her completing a TV & Film Production Connect, Collaborate and Cultivate CPD, and Filming Live Performances supported by the WMCA. Sherrie was the art director for BFI films, 'The Sikh Soldier', 'AAJAO', AD for Lobo's music promo 'Modest', location assistant for BBC's We Go Again' and script supervisor for the film short ‘Who Wants to Be Me?’.
